ABOUT OUR INDIVIDUALIZED READING, MATH and WRITING PROGRAMS

For over 26 years, Americana's Prescriptive Instruction programs have been helping elementary school students to improve their reading, writing and math skills. Each student is tested and an individualized program is prescribed. Children progress at their own speed as they work with a teacher on assignments tailored to meet their specific needs and learning styles. Your child's progress will be carefully evaluated throughout the program, with the prescription constantly adjusted to maximize learning and increase self confidence. You will receive progress reports at frequent intervals. With parent’s consent, a conference with the classroom teacher can be arranged.

With our individually prescribed programs, students can gain at least one full year in only 48 hours of instruction! Our experience has shown that 48 hours represents the optimum period of time needed by students to learn, master, and transfer skills to the classroom. The length of an effective learning program for your child will depend on individual needs and personal goals.

WHAT IS INSTRUCTION LIKE?

Our Prescriptive Instruction students are taught in a warm, nurturing environment by experienced, NYS Certified teachers specially selected for their patience and understanding. The children are motivated to learn by a challenging and rewarding program written specifically to meet their individual achievement goals and tailored to complement their school curriculum. Students usually attend three to four hours a week. Instruction is scheduled after school and on Saturdays. A typical instructional session includes work with eight to nine different materials designed to appeal to different learning styles and interest levels.
